The past few months, Russia has experienced turmoil in the country with gay-rights protest and claims of corruption due to the Olympic Games. The games have been expensive so far, costing over $50 billion. However, Russia seeks to create a new identity in teh eyes of the global public.
Olympics 2014: Slopestyle event dares, but athletes hesitate
A new event, Slopestyle, has been added to the Olympic Games as an acrobatic obstacle course for snowboarders. Competitors are wary of teh high level of intensity, and Shaun White, the world's most famous snowboarder, dropped out of the event suddenly. The event has not recieved a positive reaction, and many athletes are concerned with the risk of the sport.
2014 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony: TV Channel, Performers And Preview For Sochi Games Event
There has been a great deal of secrecy surrounding the Opening Ceremony of the Olympics, but it has been discovered that there will be a classical music incorporated with famed musicans. The U.S. has made sure to have their outfits manufactured solely in teh United States with domestic materials. The Opening Ceremony is at the $780 million Fisht Stadium, and will be aired on Feb. 7, 11 a.m. EST.
